About Me

I have always had an interest in IT ever since my family acquired a BBC Micro™. I can remember at the age of about eight years old working through the BASIC programming book teaching myself how to write small programs. This interest has never waivered and when I went to college enrolled on the GNVQ IT Advanced course obtaining a distinction.

While at college I learned how to program in Pascal and how to design databases (although this was in MS Access). After college, I enrolled at the University of the West of England to gain a Bachelors in Software Engineering. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I never completed the course but did pick up Java and SQL.

At this time I enrolled with the National IT Learning Centre and gained their Internet Solution Project Diploma learning HTML, CSS, XML and ASP. I have spent most of my time since being a House Husband looking after my children but at the same time I have kept up with my interests in learning ASP.Net and SQL Express. AT this time I began creating and hosting websites for both myself and other people (some of these are detailed in the projects section).

When my youngest started school I decided to enrol with The Open University, to gain my Bachelors in Computing and IT specialising in software. This has allowed me to study at my own pace and on my terms. The skills which I have picked up include PHP and MySQL. I gained my Bachelor of Science (Honours) in December 2023 achieving a Upper Second-Class Honours (2.1).
